s'mores rice krispie treats for Operation SurfinBird

my sister seriously makes the best s'mores rice krispie treats. and she's making them to help raise funds for operation SurfinBird.

She says:
“In an effort to help them reach [OperationSurfinBird’s] goal, I am taking orders for my homemade S'mores Rice Krispie treats.  That’s right, S'mores Rice Krispie Treats! Pure Hershey’s milk chocolate and charred marshmallows sandwiched by a double layer of Rice Krispies, Cocoa Krispies & Golden Grahams.  I’m asking for a minimum donation of $20 per dozen.  With the holidays almost upon us, these would be the perfect treat to take to Thanksgiving dinner or to a holiday party. 100% of the proceeds go to Operation SurfinBird towards their goal of feeding the families of Rockaway Beach - a great a way to give this holiday season.

How to Order:

At this time, I am only taking orders per the dozen.  Since Operation SurfinBird is on a tight schedule, all orders need to be placed with me by Tuesday, November 20th.  Most orders can be completed within 24 hours.  The good news is that I am taking advanced orders for the holiday season as long as donations are made by Tuesday.  So if you want them delivered at a later time, you can preorder them, make your donation by Tuesday and get the goods when you need them.  

Payment:

I can either take cash and make the donation for you or you can make the donation yourself at https://www.wepay.com/donations/operation-surfin-bird.  Upon completion of your donation, We Pay will send you an emailed confirmation of your payment.  To retrieve your treats, just show me your emailed confirmation of donation.  

Delivery:

Orders can be picked up at my house near the Grove (Beverly/Fairfax) or delivered locally in the Los Angeles area.

Some amazing friends in NY are spearheading a fundraiser to raise money to be able to serve Thanksgiving dinner to 500 plus victims of the Rockaway neighborhood.  Please take a minute to read about Operation SurfinBird and help them reach their goal.  Every little bit helps.  Spread the word.

The Rockaways have been devastated by hurricane Sandy. Many are without homes, those that have homes still have no power, and many have lost everything. As we now approach winter the damage to the Rockaways is still tremendous, the efforts to rebuild are becoming more challenging, and it will be a long slow process of recovery for this community. 

Operation SurfinBird is made up of New Yorkers, surfers, people that visit Rockaway, joined with people from all over the world that still care. We want to bring a nice community Thanksgiving meal to the Rockaways to show our support, show that we have not forgotten them, raise awareness that their needs are long-­‐lasting, and that the support of the world community will be there for them until the end. We hope to provide a Thanksgiving feast for at least 500 people living in the Rockaways whilst generating support and awareness for the long recovery road ahead. Any proceeds raised beyond what we need for Operation SurfinBird will go directly into rebuilding the community through free volunteer based construction, and home rehabilitation.

locks of love

this is something I have wanted to do for a long time. "Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis." it took me a few years to grow my hair to the required length for donating . I ended up cutting off about 15 inches.
I know I've said this before but if there's something you've always wanted to do then start today. small steps.

sometimes it's the starting

sometimes it's the starting that prevents us from doing something. I've wanted to open up a vintage shop  for so many years now. talked about it for so long that I think my friends and family were tired of hearing me talk about it. and since I wasn't going to stop looking for things, these things needed to find new homes.  so here it is. it's a start...and to all my favorite vintage shops, I want to thank you for your inspiration and for all the work that I now realize goes into your shop. field and ramble is now open.
